Ranked third in our Top 3 Berlin Christmas markets:
3. Zoologischer Garten
One of the first stops of our festive tour is Zoologischer Garten, the home of a little Christmas market that is surrounded by shopping centers and buildings with an interesting mix of architecture. If you’re in a hurry to do some last-minute Christmas shopping in Berlin, this is the place.
And right after your shopping spree, this Christmas market is the best place to relax with a cup of mulled wine (or Glühwein, as they call it in Germany). You will love its coziness, friendly people and laid back vibes, especially in the earlier days of December.
Metro/ U-bahn Stop: Zoologischer Garten (U2 & U9).
Highlights: Gluhwein, interesting architecture, huge Christmas tree, many shopping centers, and the Zoo are close by.
Also no. 3. Schloss Charlottenburg
We couldn’t leave out the Christmas market at Schloss Charlottenburg. 2. Christmas Market in Spandau
Number 2 in our Top 3 Berlin Christmas markets is the amazingly festive Christmas market in Alt Spandau. We know that many do not consider Spandau to be in Berlin, however, it can be so easily reached by metro or tram, and it’s definitely worth seeing in December!
The old city center of Spandau is turning into a fairytale Christmas village in December, and you will love it! If you are a fan of Christmas markets, this is the place to be!
Fairy lights, adorable tiny houses, Christmas decorations, games, carousels, and so much more. While this Christmas market is a great place to taste local dishes, it also offers delicious food options for vegetarians and vegans, which makes it a great choice for everyone.
While in Berlin, you must try Gluhwein with Amaretto. It’s truly a better way to drink mulled wine!
Metro/U-bahn stop: Altstadt Spandau (U7).

Top 3 Berlin Christmas Markets – Our Number 1 is:
1. Gendarmenmarkt
The top of the Top 3 Berlin Christmas markets has to be Gendarmenmarkt! By popular vote, this is by far one of the best Christmas markets in Berlin and it has all the ingredients that make the Christmas experience complete, and more.
First and most importantly, a huge Christmas tree is majestically placed at one of the entrances in the market. Already feeling festive?
Secondly, the amazing Concert Hall in Berlin makes the Christmas market look even more stunning. In the evening, the building is even more beautiful, encircled by colorful lights. Right in front of it, shows are performed on a little stage, which you can enjoy with your hot, festive drink in hand.
Thirdly, the market is children friendly. Winter characters are spreading Christmas cheer on the tiny streets of the market, and hot cocoa is a popular drink in Gendarmenmarkt. If you want to relax with your family and spend more time in the market, here you will also find indoor restaurants. The weather in Berlin can be quite cold in December, but don’t let it stop you from exploring!
